Support and professionalism in a difficult time

I’d like to express my deep gratitude to Mr. Santus and his entire team for their invaluable help in transporting my husband from Bulgaria to the Czech Republic. Thanks to their quick response, expert care, and human approach, my husband survived a very serious injury. Without their help, we’d have had no chance.

They took care of everything. Mr. Santus is not only an extraordinary expert with vast experience but also a person who knows how to provide support in a crisis situation. Thanks to him, I was able to get through one of the hardest times of my life.

I thank him from the bottom of my heart.

Complicated motorcycle leg fracture

I’m an avid motorcyclist, and my friends and I went on an adventurous trip to Morocco. At the end of it, I had an unfortunate accident that resulted in a complicated leg fracture. The conditions in the local hospitals were terrible, and they were not equipped for the type of treatment I needed. They did at least put a cast on my leg.

While I was in the hospital, my wife arranged everything with the insurance company to get me back home. When the ambulance arrived at the airport and two guys stepped off the plane and greeted me in Czech, I burst into tears. I flew with just a doctor and two pilots, and they all took incredibly good care of me.

I don’t want this to sound exaggerated, but I really want to thank the entire crew. They were amazing. The service they provided was far beyond my expectations, and the level of comfort was wonderful. At the end of the flight, they even apologized for taking me to Brno instead of Přerov because they wouldn’t be able to refuel there. Can you imagine? They apologized. Those six hours with them literally brought me back to life. I’ve been through plenty of extreme situations, but I’ll never forget that flight.

Thanks to this help and a subsequent operation, I’m now living without any lasting consequences.

IKEM thanks for transplant transport

We’d like to thank Aeropartner for their cooperation in transporting the transplantation team from Transplantation Centre IKEM to Košice on 1 March 2023. Special thanks go to the crew, Captain Ondřej Sucharda and Copilot Mr. Ladislav Křížek.

We’d also like to share information about the patient who received the transplanted organ. The liver was transplanted into a 67-year-old patient with liver failure due to toxic-nutritional cirrhosis. After the procedure, there was a gradual decline in liver enzymes, and the patient is currently in stable condition.

Once again, a heartfelt thanks from the recipient of the transplanted organ.

A new heart for a Czech boy

In the summer, doctors at FN Motol received news that a suitable heart donor had been found for a Czech child – in Paris. The transplantation process was immediately activated, and a three-member team set off to France to retrieve and transport the organ.

Once the other organs were removed, it was time for the heart. At that moment, the race against time began. At Paris’s Le Bourget airport, a Cessna Mustang from Aeropartner was waiting, and the crew had already studied the fastest route based on the current weather conditions, so they were able to take off immediately.

After a two-hour flight, they touched down in Prague, where an ambulance was ready to immediately transport the heart to Motol. “The heart transplant was successful. But as always, our biggest enemy was time,” explains Professor Janoušek. “When retrieving organs abroad, we’re always on the edge of the critical four-hour limit. There is no room for error. You have a child lying on the operating table without a heart, and if they don’t receive a new one in time, they’ll die.”

Thanks to the precise coordination and swift action of all the teams, Vašík got his second chance.

First-class incubators for newborns

Chief Physician of Pediatric and Newborn Intensive and Resuscitation Care Unit, Clinic of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine, General University Hospital, Prague

Aeropartner plays a crucial role in saving the lives of newborns with severe heart defects. Specializing in the transport of newborns with prenatally diagnosed conditions, they act swiftly to ensure timely expert care. As soon as the baby and mother are stable after birth, Aeropartner transports the newborn to a specialized hospital equipped with state-of-the-art pediatric (namely cardiology) facilities.

Thanks to specially designed incubators, transport is safe across Europe and the Mediterranean. These missions are extremely time-sensitive; interventions often need to be made within hours or days of birth. After a successful surgery and stabilization, Aeropartner ensures the safe return of the patient home.

Miroslav Koňařík, MD

State-of-the-art technical equipment

Head of the Ex Vivo Heart Perfusion Team, IKEM (Institute for Clinical and Experimental Medicine)

Time plays a crucial role in organ transplants, and it’s these time-critical missions that really define the work Aeropartner does. In collaboration with international teams and with strict adherence to protocols, Aeropartner ensures the fast and safe transport of donor organs to recipients.

With the latest technologies, such as the TransMedics device, the lifespan of transported organs has been significantly extended: hearts can now be preserved for up to 8 hours instead of the previous 4, and lungs can last up to 12 hours or more. This advancement enables doctors to obtain organs from distant locations, significantly increasing the number of successful transplants and saving more lives.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have a question? Do not hesitate to contact us.

Contact us
  • Within three hours of a request, we can dispatch an air ambulance to most destinations. Thanks to our on-call operational and commercial teams, we ensure that no call for help goes unanswered – 24/7, 365 days a year.

  • Prior to each flight, we perform a detailed medical assessment to determine whether the patient’s condition permits air transport. If the patient is in critical condition but transport is essential, we immediately contact the family and, with their consent, deploy a specialized medical team to ensure continuous care throughout the journey.

  • The cost of the flight is typically covered by insurance through a partner assistance service. In some cases, clients may choose to pay directly in order to expedite the process and then reclaim the costs from the insurance company after the mission is completed.

  • Insurance companies always weigh the costs of specialized air transport against the quality of local medical care and the availability of alternative transport options, such as commercial air or ground transportation. If you have excellent insurance – or choose to cover the cost yourself – air transport may even be possible for a “minor” injury, such as a broken toe.

  • Yes. Depending on the capacity of the aircraft and the number of medical team members, relatives can accompany the patient. In the case of children, at least one parent must be on board for the flight.

  • The team comprises two experienced pilots and at least one medical professional, typically a highly qualified paramedic with extensive experience. Depending on the patient’s condition, the team may be supplemented with additional medical staff, including specialists. For children, a doctor (paediatrician, neonatologist, or intensivist) is always on board.

  • From minor to severe fractures or head injuries, winter sports are among the most common reasons for dispatching an air ambulance during the winter season. Aeropartner will arrange transport to a top-tier medical facility for further treatment or surgery.
